I really wonder if I will force myself to read the second volume I foolishly bought. View 2 comments. Sep 18, Teru Chan rated it it was amazing Shelves: manga , favorites.

I found this manga at random, and unlike other negative reviews I actually love this manga. Being an avid shoujo reader myself, thus manga was refreshing and different, I was definitely hooked into the story line.

Jan 07, Nell aneurinreads rated it it was amazing. Even though this volume is very much an introduction and not much more, it was so exciting and we already saw a great deal of character development!

Z-Loan is a really interesting concept and I can't wait to see more of how the company works, especially the more magical side of things, such as what happens when they repay their loans.

The two characters we briefly ran into outside of Z-Loan are also really intriguing and I hope we see them a lot, as well as the quirky characters who work there.

Michiru borders on being a stereotypical heroine, yet by the end of the volume we see that there is a lot more to her than we were first made to think, and it is in her that the character development is most seen.

I really love her and am excited to see what's in store for her!! Feb 02, Paraskevi Markatou rated it really liked it. I loved it so much, perhaps the only Zombie- manga I could read!

I wassad when the series of the anime stopped so ''sudenly'' I really wanted to see more. More character development and more romance.

But pretty good. Feb 28, Carrie-Anne rated it really liked it Shelves: horror , series , fantasy , manga , zombies. This was a fun read about a meek, shy girl who kind of accidentally has the power to see when people are dying The horror aspects are done well, there are definitely some creepy things going on, the three main characters all have their own personalities and abilities, and we also have sprinkles of humour.

Nov 14, Sarah rated it liked it. The art is fantastic. The story is fine, but its nothing revolutionary or special. Michiru, is a basically a pushover and the boys take full advantage of it and basically pull her into their debt problems by nearly getting her killed.

Series Review: This series flew under the radar. They even made a joke in a bonus comic about not being popular and wondering if they should even do a character popularity poll.

It's really good though. The world set up was cool with how they used data, ferrymen, and shinigami. I thought it dragged a bit at first once the main group officially met up, but it picks up later and gets a lot better.

I don't want to sp Series Review: This series flew under the radar. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you didn't like the Chibi Vampire ending, you're not likely to like this one either.

I watched the anime back in or so and liked it but wasn't completely satisfied. I head the manga is much better and I can't remember the anime at all tbh so I'm hoping I fall in love with it!

Feb 12, Nick rated it liked it Shelves: manga. Overall Rating: B Synopsis: Michiru Kita is a mousy girl, who runs errands for her friends, and has Shinigami Eyes, which allow her to see a ring around a person's neck.

This ring symbolizes the person's impending death; once they are marked to die, a gray ring, which is invisible to normal people, appears around their neck.

Over time, the ring gets darker, and once the ring turns completely black, the person dies. Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana, two boys in her class, both have black rings a Overall Rating: B Synopsis: Michiru Kita is a mousy girl, who runs errands for her friends, and has Shinigami Eyes, which allow her to see a ring around a person's neck.

Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana, two boys in her class, both have black rings around their necks, but to her surprise, they are not yet dead.

Who are these boys, and what do they have to do with the strange loan office called Zombie Loan? I picked up the first volume of this one because of the title.

It doesn't hurt that I like things with zombies in them. Then I checked out the description and it drew me in.

Unfortunately, the first volume didn't blow me away. It's actually a little slow paced, but I really liked the concept so I stuck with it, and I wasn't disappointed.

Zombie Loan is basically a twist on the numerous manga out there featuring shinigami, and life after death. Chika and Shito provide the bad ass dudes aspect to the story, with a gun and sword attached to their bodies by chains, and mysterious pasts.

However, instead of the usual buxom girl we get the mousy Michiru. Unfortunately, that's where the characters stop in the first volume.

We're also introduced to some minor characters, who add flavor to the book, and hopefully are expanded on later in the series.

So far, I have a bit of a soft spot for Michiru, but I hope she grows as a character more in future volumes. One of the reasons I only rated this volume a B is because I haven't grown attached to any of the characters.

The plot is interesting, the art is good, and I'm looking forward to where they go with things, but the characters seem pretty one dimensional.

Hopefully this will pick up soon and maybe add another woman to the cast so I can cosplay Chika. I think Will would make an excellent Shito.

When I first read the synopsis for ZOMBIE-LOAN I thought Michiru would be a character I could relate too because she has a hard time saying what's on her mind which I had a problem with when I went to school but she's also a character who has an apathetic attitude towards life.

She keeps her true feelings to herself and allows herself to be used daily by her "friends" and it really is a sad existence when what all she seems to be doing is existing.

I suppose it doesn't help when she takes her gl When I first read the synopsis for ZOMBIE-LOAN I thought Michiru would be a character I could relate too because she has a hard time saying what's on her mind which I had a problem with when I went to school but she's also a character who has an apathetic attitude towards life.

I suppose it doesn't help when she takes her glasses off she can tell when someone is about to die either. Then in comes Boy A and Boy B or more specifically Shito and Chika two boys who miraculously survived a car accident six months ago but look like they are going to die very soon because they both have rings around their neck.

I'm not sure what made me not really like ZOMBIE-LOAN, the thing I had found the most distracting were the various translation notes.

You know how sound effects are left in the original language and then somewhere on the page you get the translation in little tiny font well there was the translation in how it would translate to in Japanese without the kanji symbols and then how it would sound in English.

It really slowed down the pace for me while I was reading especially when everything in Kanjii was translated in almost the same fashion, not just sound effects but hand written notes, and building signs, and snack labels.

The art style was all a bit difficult to follow at times, lots of dark shading and tones that made it hard at times for me to really know what I was looking at but the major thing for me were probably the characters.

For me to really love the story I have to love the characters and that wasn't the case here. I only really liked Chika because he was funny at times and hot headed, he says what's on his mind and doesn't try to sugar coat things or be nice just for the sake of being nice like some other characters in the story.

But he also had a mind that was almost always focused on money, going so far as to nickname Michiru yen because that's what she "owes" him. Will I give volume 2 a try?

Maybe I will but not anytime soon. Feb 05, Rummanah Books in the Spotlight rated it liked it Shelves: humor , ya , friendship , stars , paranormal , horror , manga.

Review for the entire series. I am conflicted on my opinions of Zombie Loan. I picked up primarily because I thought it would be a great read-alike for Black Butler, a manga series that I've really enjoyed but have fallen behind on.

It took me up to the third volume of Zombie Loa Review for the entire series. It took me up to the third volume of Zombie Loan to warm up to the characters and finally begin to see the manga story arc a bit clearly.

Michiru who at first comes across as a hopeless, ditsy female character soon becomes much more complex as she realizes her destiny.

I liked how she slowly grow into her own strong character instead of assuming this role because she has a hidden superpower.

I also really liked how the two male leads in this manga, Chicka and Shito, treat her like a sister instead of both falling in love with her.

In addition to Michiru's character development, we also learn back stories of Chicka and Shito as well as watch these two boys with polar opposite personality traits overcome their differences and work together.

The concept of fighting zombies to rack good points is a fun concept. The story becomes more intricate as it nears to the end, which is expected.

There is plenty of action to keep readers on their toes along with moments of thought and reflection. I was not a big fan of the artwork in this manga.

The girls have gigantic eyes and small features, which plays nicely off of the chiseled good-looking leading men. There were many times where I was confused as to which male character is which because they are drawn so alike.

Overall, Zombie Loan was a decent manga series but not one of my favorites. I would have dropped it earlier, but a few students of mine told me to continue and said it got better, which it did.

I would recommend this series to readers who like lots of action in their manga along with some food for thought and humor. Feb 01, Melissa rated it it was ok Shelves: manga , series.

That, and the stilted, cliched lines used in the action scenes made me want to quit the book after the first two chapters.

After seeing it on two boys in her class, she seeks to warn them, only to discover that the boys are already dead, but are still walking around hunting down dangerous zombies due to a contract with Zombie-Loan.

They try to use Michiru's "Shinigami eyes" to their advantage, much to Michiru's dismay. Before Michiru goes to bed that night, she notices a faint ring appearing on her neck, which means she will die soon.

Recently, people have been disappearing in Michiru's school, so Shito and Chika investigate the incident. They ask Michiru to help them, but she is more concerned about the ring that she saw around her neck.

However, when Michiru finds out that her friend has gone missing, she decides to look for her friend at the school. Later, in the midst of Chika and Shito's battle with the zombie responsible for the disappearances, Michiru is fatally wounded.

Now that Michiru works for the Zombie-Loan office, she moves out of her relatives' place by using her deceased parents' estate to pay off any favors rather than letting her aunt and uncle usurp her inheritance.

Shimotsuki Kuze introduces Michiru to the dormitory she is to live in, as she satisfies the special criteria for residence. Chika, who is still claiming to be using her for her Shinigami Eyes, introduces her to the various strange people who work at Zombie Loan and they throw a welcoming party for Michiru.

After the party, she gets her first kiss stolen by a female student's "other personality", Yomi, which the Z-Loan office members would later use to their advantage.

The next day, when she ends up going to work with Chika, they meet an old acquaintance of his. Chika's old acquaintance, Reiichirou Shiba, helps Chika and Michiru out of a jam.

Shiba then tags along with the two to the Z-Loan office, where Shito instantly points his gun at him. Chika convinces everyone that he is of no harm.

Meanwhile, a new addition to the office is introduced, in order to help them with their upcoming job. When the office investigates a mysterious "butterfly" group, Koyomi and Michiru get mistaken as two of its members due to the butterfly symbols on their shirts.

However, they get found out after Michiru tells them how bad it is to kill people, so Yomi comes to Michiru's rescue when they attack her.

When Shito, Chika, and Shiba arrive, they follow the leader of the group and kills him, but it is later revealed that the zombie they killed was not the real leader.

As Shito and Chika battle Shiba, a flashback is shown to show how Shiba became a zombie. During the flashback, Shiba was tired with the same monotonous life he has, so he commits suicide.

However, he meets with an unknown figure promising an "unboring" existence that leads to becoming "free" of his previous, dull life. TV-MA Animation , Action , Drama TV Series —.
